Working together to fight Cape Town crime

Metro police, law enforcement, traffic officers, LEAP and SAPS come together to fight crime in Cape Town

CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town, provincial government and police often differ on the approach to crimefighting in the Western Cape.

But this time, they’ve managed to put these differences aside in a joint operation targeting high crime areas of Nyanga, Philippi and Crossroads.

More than 700 staff were involved.

Areas like Nyanga, Philippi East, Crossroads and Marikana remain crime hotspots despite extra resources being deployed here.

Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis says he wants all residents to be safer.

He says the City has a lot to offer police in the fight against crime.
