MTHATHA - The student killed at the Walter Sisulu University was registered at the institution.
Higher Education Minister Nobuhle Nkabane says Sisonke Mbolekwa was indeed a student.
It comes after the university initially said he was not registered with them.
The manager of a student residence reportedly shot him as students complained about living conditions.
