Zimbabwe government won't cover medical bills of citizens in SA

HARARE - The Zimbabwe government says it won't fund the medical bills of its citizens in South Africa.

This as groups like Operation Dudula and other protesters block foreign nationals from using public clinics and hospitals. They accuse the foreigners of placing extra strain on limited health services, at the expense of South Africans.

Zimbabwe Justice Minister, Ziyambi Ziyambi has told parliament that it's not the government's responsibility to help citizens in South Africa, and they should fund themselves.

But opposition figure Tendai Biti disagrees. He says a deeper political reality needs to be addressed.

An estimated three million Zimbabweans are living and working outside the country.
