Zimbabwean journos harassed and held for probing minister

HARARE- Two Zimbabwean journalists have been released after spending four hours in custody on trumped-up charges.

Along with their driver, they were nabbed by gun-toting cops in Masvingo, deep in Zimbabwe’s south.

The journos had been chasing a story about a hotly contested plot of land, however, they soon found themselves being accused of trespassing on a government minister’s turf and that their vehicle was suspicious.

Lately, Zimbabwean journalists are increasingly hassled or hauled off by state security while on the job.
