Zuma slams Ramaphosa's rejection of private prosecution bid
JOHANNESBURG - Former President Jacob Zuma has slammed President Cyril Ramaphosa's rejection of his private prosecution bid.
In a letter released late Saturday night, Zuma says the summons he served on the President is binding.
That's until it's set aside by a court of law.
Ramaphosa gives Zuma ultimatum to withdraw his private prosecution bid
His letter is in response to Ramaphosa's ultimatum that Zuma withdraws the summons by Monday.
Zuma is requesting a time extension.
A letter from a State Attorney to Zuma's lawyers questions the former president's timing in serving the summons a day before the beginning of the ANC's national conference.
Zuma's foundation announced on Thursday that he's aiming to prosecute Ramaphosa privately.
He's accusing Ramaphosa of being an accessory after the fact in crimes allegedly committed by Billy Downer, the prosecutor in Zuma's corruption trial.
