CAPE TOWN - The Independent Electoral Commission is hosting a three-day conference on the viability of electronic voting.
The IEC says this will alter the way citizens cast their vote, but it could be a while before it's implemented due to discussions on security measures and technological hurdles.
The Human Sciences Research Council says electronic voting can be achieved, although it may not be soon.
The HSRC has been conducting feasibility studies since 2013, with the latest done last year.
Local and international stakeholders are meeting in Cape Town to work out when and how South Africa can achieve this.
The HSRC's Benjamin Roberts spoke with eNCA about the issues being considered.
