The Gauteng Health Department is urging pregnant women to prioritise antenatal care to enhance the chances of safe pregnancies and deliveries.

The department has noted that some women in the province only seek healthcare services after 20 weeks of pregnancy or even later.

Nthabiseng Motshegwa is a manager for Maternal Neo Natal Women's Health and Genetics for the Johannesburg Health District.
