JOHANNESBURG - The world's largest HIV treatment programme is under threat.
It's partly due to the withdrawal of US aid.
But Professor Francois Venter says a lack of government response is making things worse.
He led a large PEPFAR programme until 2012.
Venter says millions of lives are at risk and we will soon see a wave of new infections, sickness and death.
He says the denialism of the Mbeki era is long gone, but is now being replaced with ignoring the problem.
