Joburg fire | Foundation for Human Rights calls for humanity

JOHANNESBURG - Government must shoulder sole responsibility for the Johannesburg fire that cost 76 lives.

That's according to the Foundation for Human Rights.

It says the tragedy would have been avoided if people had proper housing as per the constitution.

The foundation is also speaking out against xenophobia and is pleading for humanity.

"There's always xenophobic undertones on social media because the issues are hardly ever understood properly," said Shoabi Noko.

"I think it's the current sentiment that is a concern of always scapegoating migrants for any social ill that we find ourselves in in South Africa."
