At least 231 rhinos killed this year

 

DURBAN - At least 231 rhinos have been killed in South Africa this year, with a large number of them in KwaZulu-Natal.

Focus areas also include the borders next to the Kruger Park, rural game farms and the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi area in KZN.

Environmental Affairs Minister Barbara Creecy explained, "the new border management authority is working with us in Kruger and we are particularly focusing on that area that you mention as well as further south." 

"But you would understand the Hluhluwe Umfolozi area …. Our neighbors, in Mozambique and we know that there are syndicates that straddle both South Africa an our neighboring country and we will continue to work with the border management authority because as you correctly point out were worried about those type of incursions."
