General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi named names and gave more details of his claims on Wednesday.
It was the first day of the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry into criminality, political interference and corruption in the criminal justice system that was sparked by Mkhwanazi’s bombshell press conference on 6 July this year.
He says that a sophisticated criminal syndicate has infiltrated law enforcement.
On Wednesday he focused on the disbandment of the Political Killing Task Team saying it became clear to him that Minister Senzo Mchunu made the decision on advice from outside the SAPS.
