JOHANNESBURG - While the matric class of 2025 anxiously await their results, Prof Irma Eloff says it is important to keep perspective.
The educational psychologist from the University of Pretoria wants them to understand that they are not defined by their results.
The 2025 matric results are set to be released on Tuesday, with Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube set to officially announcement them on Monday.
Public universities will notify students of their acceptance once they are published.
For those who do not make it through or not as well as anticipated, emotions can run high.
There are qualities that are much more important for long-term career success, says Eloff.
These qualities, she says, include the ability to problem-solve, trustworthiness, responsibility, and a willingness to go the extra mile.
It is important to keep a healthy perspective while also remembering that there are alternative options available beyond matric.
