Riskonet warns of deeper energy crisis

JOHANNESBURG - South Africa's electricity crisis will worsen if it doesn't accelerate renewable energy deployment and grid expansion.

That's the warning from risk consultant Volker von Widdern.

He says delays in new capacity and infrastructure upgrades could trigger systemic risks to energy security and economic growth.

Van Widdern added that the development of the transmission scenarios that they will is that they will insufficient transmission will carry the needed new power generation over the 5 to 10 years.
