JOHANNESBURG - The National Convention begins on Friday, launching a country-wide dialogue to tackle South Africa's most urgent social, economic and political challenges.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed an Eminent Persons Group, including former IEC chair Dr Brigalia Bam, Springbok captain Siya Kolisi, and Gift of the Givers founder Dr Imtiaz Sooliman, to guide the process.

The dialogue will proceed despite controversy, withdrawals by some legacy foundations and lingering budget questions.
Eminent Persons Group member, Professor Nomboniso Gasa, and political analyst Sanet Madonsela-Solomon joined eNCA to discuss what the event entails, but also provide some insights on the withdrawal of GNU partners and prominent lobby groups and legacy foundations.
