[SPONSORED] The year 2022 is very special for AVBOB as it marks the organisation’s 104th anniversary and the breaking of new ground – the sod-turning ceremony – for a new office building. The organisation turned 104 years old on 15 August 2022.

The relocation of the AVBOB Group’s office premises carries significant meaning for the organisation. The Group has invested substantial funds into a state-of-the-art building at its future premises which will be situated in Centurion at Irene Link. The new building will be a P-grade facility which offers modern building services.

AVBOB CEO, Mr Carl van der Riet, says that the new building is also an illustration of the Group’s commitment to the country’s economy. AVBOB has made significant investments into the growth and development of the economy over the years.

“We envision a brighter future for the country. The new building will be a tangible representation of all that is taking place within the company and an opportunity to strengthen our commitment to South Africa and the communities we serve,” Van der Riet says.

In evaluating the suitability of the new premises, AVBOB paid special attention to several criteria, which included: the quality of building, environmental ratings and efficiency and local facilities available to employees. The investment into the new building is in the region of R400 million.

Amongst other investments, AVBOB also recently invested R788 million into infrastructure and black business growth funding opportunities. The Group is also contributing to the building of critical infrastructure and providing emerging businesses with capital to grow and succeed. Over the past two years, AVBOB has paid out over R5,3 billion in claims and policy benefits, and provided nearly R800 million worth of FREE funeral benefits* and services to its members.

The opening of the Group’s new corporate office will take place before December 2023. This move forms part of AVBOB’s future-focused strategy, after the Pretoria CBD has been home to the organisation for about 50 years.
