Most Dirt Wins: Episode 2 Shifts Gears as the Landtrek Workhorse Takes Centre Stage

JOHANNESBURG - Most Dirt Wins: Episode 2 Shifts Gears as the Landtrek Workhorse Takes Centre Stage

Peugeot South Africa’s adventure-driven content series, Most Dirt Wins, continues its journey through the Eastern Cape in Episode 2 — this time highlighting the capabilities of the Landtrek single cab workhorse. After tackling some of the country’s toughest mountain passes in Episode 1, both teams set out from the village of Rhodes for another demanding day on dirt.

With temperatures plummeting in the Highlands, the teams begin the day on uneven footing. Team Two starts with a time penalty after missing a required pass the previous day, while Team One gains a small head start. Despite this setback, both teams remain focused on the challenge: cover as many kilometres of dirt road as possible while completing a new task set by Peugeot.

The day’s destination is Matatiele, but the teams must make a crucial stop at Mount Fletcher to collect building materials — including tiles, tools and cement — for Mount Hargreaves Secondary School. The addition of this delivery challenge shifts the spotlight to the Landtrek’s practicality and load-carrying ability.

Both teams ascend Naudé’s Nek Pass, one of South Africa’s most celebrated mountain routes, before navigating onward towards their task. The rugged roads reveal a recurring lesson from the series: on dirt, even short distances can demand unexpected time and focus.

Upon reaching Mount Fletcher, the Landtrek’s workhorse credentials draw attention. The hardware store owner notes its ability to take two pallets without sagging, describing it as an uncommon feat in its class. With its large load box, six-speed gearbox and three-ton towing capacity, the vehicle demonstrates why it is positioned as a dependable partner for South Africa’s working communities.

The teams complete their delivery at Mount Hargreaves Secondary School, where the warm reception reinforces a key theme of Episode 2: the role of the Landtrek not only as an off-road companion but as a practical, community-supporting vehicle. With supplies delivered and spirits lifted, the teams return to the dirt for the final stretch to the finish line.

Episode 2 closes with both teams reflecting on the day’s challenges, the rewarding school visit and the Landtrek’s performance under heavy load. With two days remaining in the Most Dirt Wins journey, the race remains wide open as the teams prepare for the next leg of their Eastern Cape adventure.
