JOHANNESBURG - The fallout from the controversial Medicare24 Tshwane District contract is intensifying.
Multiple high-ranking police officials have been served with notices of suspension.
Now, the policing union SAPU says suspensions and disciplinary processes cannot be used to please politicians.
Its statement follows the latest wave of suspensions of top cops implicated in the Medicare24 tender.
The union is accusing the acting police commissioner of abusing internal disciplinary processes.
While the Madlanga Commission continues its probe, the SAPS insists it remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, transparency and ethical conduct in all its operations.
