Communities that live in gang- ridden areas have been living in fear and have been calling for SANDF deployment for years to stabilise their neighbourhoods.  Experts and human rights organisations have expressed concern, though, about the potential risks of human rights violations and are advocating for a more sustainable solution to addressing the problem.
