Banyana survive Senegal thriller

JOHANNESBURG - Banyana Banyana have booked their spot in the Women's Africa Cup of Nations semi-final and in so doing, keep their title defence alive.

Desiree Ellis and her team made a pacey start to the encounter but failed to capitalise on some early chances.

South Africa were pushed all the way by Senegal at the Honneur Stadium in Oujda, Morocco and at times came under intense pressure.

Following 120 minutes of tense, goalless football, Banyana Banyana triumphed 4–1 in a penalty shootout to secure a semi-final date with Nigeria.
