MEXICO CITY - Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos says his team has drawn significant motivation from the support of South African fans during their FIFA World Cup campaign in North America.
Broos’ side faces a decisive Group A clash against South Korea, with only a victory keeping their hopes of progressing to the knockout stages alive.
A win against the East Asian opponents would see South Africa reach the knockout round for the first time in their history. Bafana Bafana opened their campaign with a 2–0 defeat to hosts Mexico before holding the Czech Republic to a 1–1 draw.
"The guys, first of all, want to be in the second round because they are professional players, they want the best and the best results but on the other side, there is also the nation," Broos said.
"And we know that we have a big support from all those people who are in South Africa on Wednesday at 3 o'clock in the morning, putting the television on and watching the television. Again, I hope from the bottom of my heart that we can make a good result.
"What is a good result? Winning and that we are in the next round and then I think the people there, so far away now, will be very, very happy and we want to make them happy, that's for sure."
