Danny Jordaan re-elected as SAFA president

MIDRAND – Following weeks of campaigning, the the SAFA presidency race has ended with the re-election of Danny Jordaan. 

At the age of 75, Jordaan secured a fourth term and outdid his opponent, Sandile Zungu. 

Zungu, the AmaZulu chairperson, went toe-to-toe with Jordaan, wanting to unseat him after three terms at the helm of South African football. 

Jordaan received 157 votes while Zungu received 82. 

His re-election comes amid reports of death threats, harassment and intimidation targeting delegates ahead of the vote.  

Security was tightened at the congress venue in Midrand.  

Members are also voting for the national executive committee and provincial leadership. 

FIFA, CAF, COSAFA and SASCOC representatives are among those attending.
