JOHANNESBURG - Kaizer Chiefs got back on the winning trail by beating Durban City 1-0 on Sunday in the South African Premiership, and climbing one place to fifth.
Democratic Republic of Congo-born winger Glody Lilepo notched the only goal after 69 minutes at the Soccer City stadium in Johannesburg.
It was the third league goal this season for Lilepo as Chiefs struggle to find the net, managing just 17 goals in 19 matches.
Chiefs, the most popular club in South Africa, had lost five of their previous six matches in domestic and African competitions.
Victory over sixth-placed Durban City boosts their chances of finishing third and qualifying for the second-tier CAF Confederation Cup again.
Chiefs have 33 points -- one less than Sekhukhune United and AmaZulu -- but have played two fewer matches due to Confederation Cup commitments.
Orlando Pirates, the greatest rivals of Chiefs, top the table with 48 points. Defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns lie second, one point behind with a game in hand.
Pirates and Sundowns seem set to occupy the top two places and qualify for the CAF Champions League. The club finishing third and the FA Cup winners enter the Confederation Cup.
