Pitso Mosimane named as new Bafana coach

JOHANNESBURG - Pitso Mosimane is set for a return to the Bafana Bafana dugout.

The South African Football Association has approved his appointment as the new national team coach following the departure of Hugo Broos.

The decision was ratified at a Safa National Executive Committee meeting, with members backing Mosimane to take charge of the side that recently made history at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

South Africa reached the knockout rounds round for the first time, highlighted by a memorable victory over South Korea.

While SAFA said a few administrative details still need to be finalised, an official announcement is expected next week.

Mosimane was previously in charge of Bafana in a caretaker capacity in 2007 and from 2010 to 2012.
