Proteas Women falter as Pakistan seal consolation win

BENONI - The Proteas Women slumped to a defeat in their third and final T20 clash against Pakistan Women in Benoni. 

The South African women held an unassailable lead going into the clash, thanks to a 2-0 lead. 

The tourists won the toss and opted to bat first at Willowmoore Park. 

Fatima Sana put on a captain’s inning with an unbeaten 30-ball 47 runs, while Sidra Amin and Aliya Riaz added 26 runs each.

The Proteas also suffered due to their fielding, letting 19 extras slip. 

Then their response failed to take off, with Annerie Dercksen and Nadine de Klerk managing a mere 30 and 27 runs, respectively. 

South Africa were all out for 91 runs, while Marizanne Kapp retired injured, in the 53-run defeat.
