Proteas Women too strong for Pakistan

COLOMBO - The Proteas Women have climbed to the top of the ICC Women's World Cup standings.

South Africa scored a dominant win in a rain-affected game against Pakistan in Colombo.

The Proteas scored at almost eight runs to the over as they posted 312 after 40 overs.

Laura Wolvaardt top-scored with 90, while Sune Luus and Marizanne Kapp hammered fifties.

After several rain delays, Pakistan's target was revised to 234 from 20 overs.

But they never got close as the Proteas cruised to a 150-run victory, with Kapp taking three wickets.

South Africa finish off the round robin phase with a match against defending champions Australia on Saturday.
