SA Rugby to review ticket prices after fan backlash

JOHANNESBURG - SA Rugby is planning to respond to fans’ backlash over ticket prices, saying it will conduct a comprehensive review of its ticketing strategy at the end of the 2026 season.

Rugby bosses were forced to slash ticket prices for the Springboks’ first Test of 2026 against England at Ellis Park after slow sales.

The rugby governing body confirmed on Monday that they will review the pricing strategy for the 2027 season.

SA Rugby president Mark Alexander conceded in a statement that some ticket categories require closer scrutiny.

However, he rejected suggestions that ticket prices were driven by profit.
