2024 Cape Epic | Matt Beers flies SA flag high

CAPE TOWN - South Africa Matt Beers and his American partner, Howard Grotts, endured eight days of racing across 605 kilometres to clinch the men’s 2024 Cape Epic.

The Toyota-Specialised-Ninety-One team with Beers and Grotts maintained their lead and finished the race over 11 minutes ahead of the second-placed team.

The pair finished third in the Grand Finale stage in Stellenbosch and well within the time required for the overall victory.

The World Bicycle Relief team of Nino Schurter and Sebastian Fini started the race strong, but some slower stages in the second half of the week saw them unable to fight for the overall win.

In the women’s race, the Ghost Factory Racing team of Anne Terpstra of the Netherlands and Nicole Koller of Switzerland took a clean sweep.

They won their eighth straight stage for an ultimately convincing overall victory in the women’s race.
