JOHANNESBURG - The road to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations is officially underway, with the qualifiers already producing some early drama.
South Africa’s Bafana Bafana will begin their Group D campaign on Saturday when they welcome Guinea to Orlando Stadium.
The match will mark the start of a new chapter for head coach Pitso Mosimane, who returns for his second spell in charge of the national team. The former Mamelodi Sundowns boss takes over from Hugo Broos and will be looking to make an immediate impact.
South Africa share Group D with tournament co-hosts Kenya, who will face Eritrea in the group’s other opening fixture.
The qualifiers got underway on Thursday, with Zimbabwe, DR Congo, Namibia, Ivory Coast and Cameroon all making winning starts in their respective groups.
