JOHANNESBURG - South Africa's Banyana Banyana kept their hopes alive of qualifying for the Women's World Cup Brazil year.
After defeating Nigeria 2-1 in their WAFCON play-in match, Banyana will serve as CAF's one of two teams alongside Ghana in the Play-Off's, which will be begin in November and December of this year and be completed in February 2027.
Ghana's Black Queens eliminated the Ivory Coast.
Both Ghana and South Africa will go through the first round of the playoffs, where they will face one of the following teams: Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan, Ecuador, Venezuela, or Papua New Guinea.
At the end of this first phase, only two teams will qualify for the next round.
They will then face four nations from UEFA, Oceania Football C or CONMEBOL, who are exempt from the first round and qualified for the decisive phase.
The six teams who have won through to this phase will then be divided into three groups. In each group, a knockout match will determine the victor who will eventually book their spots to Brazil.
