Big money boost for Women's AFCON as CAF injects millions

JOHANNESBURG - The Confederation of African Football has increased the Women's Africa Cup of Nations prize money.

The winners of the competition are set to walk away with $2-million (R33-million).

That is 100% more than what Nigeria pocketed when they defeated Morocco in the final a year ago.

The total purse is up by 67% for the tournament, which kicks off on Sunday.
