PRETORIA - The Bulls are appealing a massive nine-match ban on forward Jan-Hendrik Wessels.
The sanction follows a URC disciplinary hearing on Wednesday.
This means Wessels will not play any rugby for the rest of the calendar year.
Connacht flank, Josh Murphy, accused Wessels of grabbing him in the crotch.
But the refereeing team on the day could not find clear evidence of foul play.
It's understood that no new video evidence was presented at the hearing.
This means Wessels was banned on the same footage that showed no clear evidence of foul play.
Bok coach Rassie Erasmus was left fuming.
He posted on social media that the Boks have to fight on the field and in the boardroom.
Wessels is the second-choice hooker behind Malcolm Marx in the Bok squad for the November end-of-year tour.
