CAF Champions League | Sundowns clinch top spot

JOHANNESBURG - Mamelodi Sundowns clinched the top spot in Group A of the CAF Champions League.

Bafana Bas'tyle pipped TP Mazembe with a narrow 1-0 victory at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.

Lucas Ribeiro was fouled in the 18-area box before the interval.

Namibia captain Peter Shalulile converted the resultant spot kick, sending Mazembe goalkeeper the wrong way.

The scoreline sees Rulani Mokwena's men finish the round-robin with 13 points, three ahead of the DR Congo side.

Sundowns, who are attempting to win their second Champions League title, will avoid record winners Al Ahly in the quarter-final draw.

This after the Egyptian giants also topped Group D.
