CAPE TOWN - Retired Bafana Bafana players are calling for more to be done to support players beyond the field.
This follows the death of Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana player Jayden Adams. Former Midfielder Nasief Morris said this would be helpful for those who feel they have to carry everything themselves off the field.
Adams' death remains a shock to many as he worked hard to fulfil his dream.
"You have the option of being out with your friends or being on the football field. The sacrifices, I think, are one of the biggest things you have to do," said Morris.
Former Bafana midfielder Lance Davids said because there are not many teams in Cape Town, the Stellenbosch club served Adams well.
"I am sure he enjoyed every moment; these last months must have been unbelievable for him," he said.
Adams will be laid to rest on Saturday in his hometown of Stellenbosch on Saturday.
