Chiefs defender killed in hijacking

JOHANNESBURG - Kaizer Chiefs rising star Luke Fleurs has been shot and killed in a hijacking incident on Wednesday night.

The 24-year-old defender was allegedly shot in the Johannesburg suburb of Florida.

Chiefs are yet to confirm his passing, however reports and close sources confirm he succumbed in the fatal hijacking incident.

Fleurs had joined Amakhosi in October of last year on a two-year deal after a lengthy stint with SuperSport United, where he made over 60 appearances for the club.

The Cape Town-born defender began his career with National First Division side Ubuntu Cape Town, making his professional debut at the age of 17.

Fleurs represented South Africa at Under 17 and Under 23 level and was called up to the Bafana Bafana squad even though he never made an appearance.
