Dambile gets bronze in diamond league in Rabat

RABAT - Sinesipho Dambile was South Africa's best performer in finishing third in the men's 200 metres at the Diamond League in Rabat.

Featuring in his first ever Diamond League event, Dambile crossed the line in a time of 20.03 seconds behind winner and Olympic silver medalist Kenny Bednarek.

The American set a new meeting record in 19.69 seconds with Botswana's Letsile Tebogo finishing in second place.

South Africa's Tshepo Tshite ran a strong race in the 1500 metres and was the first African to cross the line in fifth place. He clocked a time of 3 minutes and 31 seconds just 0.18 seconds shy of the national record.

In the women's 800metres, Prudence Sekgodiso continues to struggle with form and could only manage a sixth place finish at a venue where she was crowned the winner two years ago.

Sekgodiso ran the fourth best time of her career, Swiss Audrey Werro won the race in 1 minute and 56 seconds , breaking Caster Semenya's meeting record.
