MEXICO CITY - Fans in Mexico City already flocking to the stadium for the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening match.
Co-hosts Mexico will take on Bafana Bafana in the opening fixture of this year's World Cup.
It's a repeat of the 2010 World Cup opening match whereon that ocassion, South Africa 1-1 with Mexico at Soccer City Stadium in Nasrec, south of Johannesburg.
The excitement is already building up ahead of tonight's FIFA World Cup opening match in the Mexican capital.
The match will kickoff at 9pm (CAT) with the opening ceremony taking place at 7:30 (CAT).
The 87,000-seat venue in Mexico City is no stranger to hosting big matches.
It has hosted two previous World Cup finals, including Brazil's famous triumph over Italy in 1970 and Argentina's 1986 win over West Germany.
