PARIS - Racing 92's experienced France centre Gael Fickou will join Toulon next season, the southern club's president announced on Wednesday.
Fickou will leave the Parisians a year before the end of his contract to join his boyhood club having been surprisingly dropped from France's Six Nations squad earlier this year.
Toulon, three-time Champions Cup winners, have missed out on the Top 14 play-offs this season after a sorry domestic campaign.
"You got the impression we were ready, then in the matches it was different," president Bernard Lemaitre told newspaper L'Equipe after the end of their campaign.
"It's the reason we're strengthening in midfield with people like Gael Fickou and Scottish player Huw Jones," he added.
Fickou made the last of his 98 Test appearances in November and could add to his cap haul when France play New Zealand, Australia and Japan in the Nations Championship in July.
Racing have reached the Top 14 knock-outs and head to Pau on Saturday with a place in the semi-finals on the line.
