JOHANNESBURG - The Estadio Azteca is ready to host the opening fixture of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Co-hosts Mexico take on South Africa on Thursday at 9pm.
This is the same fixture that got the 2010 showpiece underway in Mzansi on the same date of 11 June.
The 87,000-seat venue in Mexico City is no stranger to hosting big matches.
It has hosted two previous World Cup finals, including Brazil's famous triumph over Italy in 1970.
