Junior Bok Kia Pratt in doping scandal

JOHANNESBURG - South African rugby is yet again being rocked by another doping scandal.

Prominent Junior Springbok and Sharks prop Kia Pratt has been informed that his urine sample has returned with an adverse analytical finding for a prohibited substance.

Pratt was tested on 10 April this year in Stellenbosch ahead of the Under20 Rugby Championship competition in Gqeberha. The results were released last month by the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport.

The 18-year-old has requested an analysis of his B sample. A date for the disciplinary process is yet to be set.

Pratt is currently undergoing rehabilitation after surgery to a foot injury sustained during a match against Argentina in April and is expected to be out of action for up to six months.

Pratt's positive doping result comes just over a month after Springbok and Lions prop Asenathi Ntlabakanye was handed an 18-month ban for a doping violation.
