Kerr steers White Ferns' win over Proteas Women

WELLINGTON - The Proteas Women struggled to defend their total of 346 runs in their loss to New Zealand in the second ODI, in Wellington.

South Africa were asked to bat first, coming into the clash with a 1-0 series lead following victory in Christchurch.

The Proteas posted a defendable score, with skipper Laura Wolvaardt scoring a 69. Anneke Bosch and Chloe Tryon posted 91 and 52 respectively.

But it was the hosts’ captain, Amelia Kerr who stole the show with the bat. She led the White Ferns with a captain’s knock of 179 not out.

The knock included an astounding 23 fours as Isabella Gaze weighed in with a 68-run cameo for a two wicket victory.

This also means the White Ferns have surpassed India's record for the highest successful run chase in women's ODIs.
