Lategan, Cummings end Stage 2 second at Dakar Rally

JOHANNESBURG - The Toyota Gazoo Racing W2RC proved a dominant display on stage two of the Dakar Rally 2025, in Saudi Arabia.

This as Americans Seth Quintero with his navigator Andrew Short clinched victory with a time of 3:57:16 for the 504 km stretch.

Quintero and Short beat their South African teammates in Henk Lategan and his navigator, Brett Cummings.

The SA duo came in second place, just one minute and 42 seconds off the pace.

Their two efforts see them move to fourth place in the overall standings, sitting one minute and 28 seconds behind.

Despite an almost perfect day for Toyota, the Dacia Sandriders remain in the overall lead with five-time champion, Nasser Al-Attiyah.

The Qatari finished 8th with his Belgian navigator, Fabian Lurquin.

In the motorbikes, Australia's defending Dakar Rally motorbike champion Daniel Sanders moved into the overall lead after winning the second stage.
