
DURBAN - Lourens Adriaanse has announced his retirement from rugby.
The Sharks prop also revealed that has been diagnosed with lymphoma cancer.
In a message posted on the Sharks' Facebook page, the 34-year-old admits the past few months have been tough.
Adriaanse says that he's started his treatment and that he's "close to halfway".
The prop has six Springbok caps under his belt after making his Test debut in 2013.
He's spent nearly a decade playing for the Sharks.
Adriaanse says he's determined to do his articles for his accounting degree at Stellenbosch University next year.
