Messi to extend stay at PSG: reports

PARIS - Talks to keep World Cup-winning captain Lionel Messi at PSG beyond 2023 are at an advanced stage.

Messi and the club have reached an agreement in principle to renew his contract, which was to end in June.

He's expected to sign a one-year deal with the option of another year.

The agreement comes after four months of talks between PSG director of football Luis Campos and Messi's father, Jorge.

Messi, who guided Argentina to World Cup glory in Qatar, has also triggered interest from his former club Barcelona.

Earlier this week, Barca president Joan Laporta said he would love to have Messi back at the club where he spent 21 memorable years.
