Orlando Pirates coach, five others in hospital after crash

JOHANNESBURG - Orlando Pirates has confirmed that its coach, Abdeslam Ouaddou, and five team members are in hospital after a road traffic incident on the R21 highway.

According to the club, the team were returning from their 3-0 victory over Chippa United in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape at the time.

It says Ouaddou and his colleagues stopped to help at the scene of a collision when a Nissan bakkie hit the stationary vehicles, striking them.

All six suffered serious injuries.

  • The club says their families are receiving support, while Pirates continues to monitor staff members' recovery.
