Rulani Mokwena cleared to leave Algeria after arrest

ALGIERS - Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has been cleared to leave Algeria after he was arrested at the weekend.

Mokwena was given a suspended sentence for violating the country's currency regulations.

He was detained by customs officials at Houari Boumediene Airport in Algiers on Sunday. The officials found him leaving Algeria with undeclared foreign currency.

Mokwena recently left MC Alger for Libyan side Al-Ittihad.

The South African embassy in Algeria confirmed the 39-year-old's arrest.
