SA teams reach finals in Angola

LUANDA - South Africa’s Men and Women Wheelchair Basketball teams have both reached the finals of the African Wheelchair Basketball Championships in Luanda, Angola.

The AmaWheelaGirls recorded a comfortable win over Angola in their semi-final.

They defeated the hosts 39-10 to book a place against Algeria in the tournament decider.

But the night belonged to the AmaWheelaBoys who stunned Algeria in their semi-final.

Perennial African champions Algeria started as overwhelming favourites after they had won all their pool matches.

But South Africa produced arguablyy one of their best performancesto beat their North African rivals by 61 points to 49.

AmaWheelaBoys play Morocco in the final tonight, and the winners will qualify for the World Championships in Canada, later in the year.
