Having lost their first two matches of the tournament and coming into the playoffs as underdogs, the side from Gqeberha surprised many with their heroics to the title.

Markram's team beat the Pretoria Capitals by four wickets to be crowned champions of the inaugural SA20 competition.
Markram won player of the series while Roelof van der Merwe was the final's player of the match.
