Sandile Zungu throws his name in the hat for SAFA top job

JOHANNESBURG - Business tycoon and Amazulu FC Chairman Sandile Zungu is mounting what many believe will be a successful takeover of the SAFA presidency.

But the question is whether or not Danny Jordaan's reign is under threat.

Many have come and gone, but Jordaan has seemingly held firm.

Jordaan has yet to announce his candidacy formally, but reports suggest he remains the favourite to retain the presidency.

SAFA vice-president Bennett Bailey has officially withdrawn his candidacy and thrown his support behind Zungu.

The outcome of the election is expected to shape the future of South African football, with key issues including governance, financial stability, youth development, women’s football, and the continued growth of the national teams expected to dominate the campaigns.
