SA's Premlall wins in style in Barcelona

BARCELONA - South African golfer Yurav Premlall clinched the DP World Tour Catalunya Championship in style in Barcelona.

Premlall threatened one of 15-time major winner Tiger Woods’ records as he clinched victory by an incredible 14 shots in Spain.

He finished just one shot off Woods’ mark from the 2000 US Open, which remains the milestone.

The 22-year-old had never won on the tour before he made 10 birdies during a 9-under par 63 on Sunday.

This completes his 28-under showing for the tournament, to finish ahead of another South African, Shaun Norris.

This is after he missed the cut in four of his eight tournament appearances this season and had not even finished in the top 30.
