Team South Africa set to race in the historic Stade de France
JOHANNESBURG - The road to Paris Olympics is on and South Africa's track and field team is hoping to draw inspiration from the scene of the Springboks’ world cup triumph last year.
The Stade de France saw one of the closest Bok triumphs just a few months ago, and now stands as a beacon of hope and a potential lucky charm for the athletics team.
Speaking during the Team SA’s kit launch ahead of the Paris Olympics and Paralympic Games, SASCOC CEO Nozipho Jafta said “Our athletes are going to compete at the stadium where we just won the Rugby world cup”.
The Paris Games are scheduled to take place from July 26th to August 11th, while the Paralympics will be held from the 28th of August to the 8th of September.
Will the echoes of the rugby team's triumph ring out again, this time in celebration of the athletic team’s success?
The answer lies just ahead, in every heartbeat and every stride taken on that hallowed ground.
